Welcome to the Pisgah Chapter Blog

The purpose of this blog is to keep Society of American Foresters members current with Pisgah Chapter activities. I will make every effort to keep this site current with information that is pertinent to the natural resources professional. This site should also serve as a forum for you, providing an open dialog among members, regarding forestry related issues or topics that you feel are important. I hope that you take some time to be apart of this exchange. Cheers! Blair

Pisgah Chapter Blog

I have added every one to the pisgah chapter blog. Future meeting messages and activities will be sent through our chapter blog. Thank you.

I promise to keep the communication to a minimum. I know that we all probably receive too much mail. Blair

Pisgah Chapter Meeting

Well many of you might have seen our most recent trail blazer article stating that the Pisgah Chapter held its meeting on December 23rd. Well that date came and went and we did not have a meeting. I apologize for not getting us together. However, not all is lost! I know this year's APSAF meeting is a long way from the mountains of WNC but I would like to hold an informal meeting with Pisgah Chapter members following our NC Division meeting.
My two year term as chapter chair has ended. Given that we did not have a fall meeting, usually the time when elections are held, we need to do so following the APSAF meeting. We are a little out of protocol given that the new chair should be in place at the beginning of the new year. I will do everything I can to help our new chair with the transition. If you are interested in "running/serving" as a chapter chair please contact me. We have a dedicated group of chapter members who attend and have served in this position so it would be great to get some "new blood" that would be dedicated to the chapter and its members.
Our fall\winter meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at LaPaz Restaurant in Asheville. Mixer will start at 6:30PM with dinner at 7:00PM. I hope to see you all there. Back on the Trail... Trail Blazer that is!!!

Hello Pisgah Chapter Members!

Can you believe that it is already August? I hope that all of you have been having a great summer and are ready for an awesome Pisgah Chapter Meeting!!!!! Our spring meeting at Warren Wilson was a great success and the students did an excellent job putting together a wonderful tour of their school forest.
This Quarter’s meeting will be held at LaPaz Restaurant on August 26, 2008 at 6:30 PM... What better way to spice up the summer with some wonderful Mexican food in our own private dinning room (some of you may remember the meeting at Buffalo Wild Wings… WHAT? I CAN"T HEAR YOU!). Our speaker for this months meeting is Mr. Alex Comfort, Director of the Cradle of Forestry Foundation, who will discuss the joint goals of the Foundation and the USFS, in regards to the programming and management of the "Birthplace of Forestry Education". One category 1 CFE will be rewarded for attending the meeting. If you have not been to a meeting this year or have "gotten out of the habit", this is a great chance to come out and meet with your friends and collegues in WNC. See attached for meeting flyer.

November Meeting @ Wild Wing Cafe

Greetings Pisgah Chapter Members! I hope that all of you are doing well. We have a new meeting venue for you! That’s right we will be meeting at wild wings cafĂ© in downtown Asheville on Monday, November 5th at 6:00 PM with dinner starting at 6:30 (show up when you can). We have reserved the upstairs dinning room and will have plenty room.

If you have not been to a Pisgah Chapter meeting recently please come. It is a great way to meet other foresters in Western North Carolina or catch up with some old friends… not to mention that one SAF category 1 credit will be awarded to all that attend. See attached agenda and invitation for the schedule and speaker.

Bring a friend and\or a love one! Look forward to seeing you all.

If you are a federal, state, or private employee tell your coworkers. Throw them in the back of your truck on the way out the door. If you have employees encourage them to attend.

Cheers! Blair
